Introduction – Read pages 4-5 in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal. This is the letter that begins “Dear Friend.”
Autobiography – Fill in pages 10-27 in To This I Give My Heart. This begins with “Who Are You?” and ends with where you see yourself in 5, 10, and 20 years.
OCTOBER 4
Answer the following questions and attached your answers to page 28 in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal. Page 28 follows the page about where you see yourself in 20 years and the heading is “An important tenet of Unitarian Universalism is the free and responsible search for truth and meaning... What do you believe?
What are some of your beliefs about how humans should act?
What are some of your beliefs about the origins of the universe?
What do you believe about how the universe functions?
What are some of your beliefs about a higher power?
What are some of your beliefs concerning life, death, and the afterlife?
Which of these beliefs affect the way you act? How?
Fill in pages 33 and 34 (collage of personal values and "What does God look like?")
OCTOBER 11 – RECOMMENDED
Attend the 50th Anniversary service on October 11, and see what answers you find to the questions on pages 52-53 (Your Congregation) in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal and see if you hear Rev. Debra answer the questions on page 54.
Fill in pages 29 and 30 of To This I Give My Heart (How long have you been a part of your Unitarian Universalist community? And What is your earliest memory of your Unitarian Universalist community?) Consider adding your own favorite memory of UUCR on page 30.

Read the Principles, Sources, Five Smooth Stones of Religious Liberalism, and the Five Jagged Rocks of Religious Liberalism, on pages 6-9 in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal.
Look at and start filling in pages 58-68 (UU Theology) in To This I Give My Heart.

FOR OCTOBER 25
Look at and think about pages 86-94 (My Community) in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal. Start filling in the pages, especially pages 92 (What ways are you a steward of your communities?), 93 (How does serving your community make you feel?), and 94 (If you could change the world to make it a better place, what would you do?
Bring questions to ask UUCR members who are active in social action/justice.
Continue working on pages 58-68 (UU Theology) in To This I Give My Heart.
FOR NOVEMBER 1
Read and fill in pages 112-121 in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal.
Think about and research possible group social action/justice projects and bring your ideas to this session.
Finish filling in the Theology and Community sections of To This I Give My Heart.
NOVEMBER 15 AND 22
Work on and implement group social action/justice projects.
NOVEMBER 22 - attend and discuss worship
Read pages 72-79 (Spirituality and Worship) in To This I Give My Heart: A Coming of Age Journal. Fill in page 73 before the worship service. You might take a few notes on the next two pages and fill in the rest of the section before the worship service. During or after the worship service, answer the questions on pages 74 and 75 (What parts of worship do you love? What parts do you wish would go away?).
WINTER BREAK
Try to finish all of the sections we have covered in To This I Give My Heart.
Attend a worship service. One possibility is the The Community Church of New York’s Kwanzaa service at noon on Sunday, December 27th (Zoom Meeting ID: 212-683-4988 or use the link at https://www.ccny.org/). On a sheet of paper, record the date, place, topic, what you liked about the service, and any questions you have about the service or topic. Attach this to your Coming of Age Journal.
