UUCR’s Alternative Gift Market will be entirely on-line this year.
Our 19th Annual Alternative Gift Market (AGM) will be held Saturday, December 7 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. This unique event provides our community with a way to purchase “alternative gifts” and to give to others in a different and more meaningful way.
The AGM offers more than 60 gift opportunities from 30 local and international organizations, including Cornerstones, FISH, OAR, Helping Hungry Kids, Kids R First, Friends of Homeless Animals, Lift Me Up, Heifer International, and many more.
Join us for a special opportunity to act on our mission of living our values and making the world a better place while checking off your gift list. Please note that 100% of what is given goes straight to the participating charities, and UUCR does NOT share your personal information with them.
Gifts starting as low as $5 are available for purchase from 30 global and local charities in honor of your recipient. Gifts include:
$50 for rent/utility assistance for a local family
$15 for school supplies for Northern Virginia students
$20 for school lunches for 40 students in Kenya
$25 or $50 toward school supplies or health care in the Peruvian Amazon
$50 for healthy meals at Reston’s Embry Rucker Homeless Shelter
$25 for a night at Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter
$5 for 10 books for a library in Ethiopia
Each donation comes with an attractive holiday card with an insert describing your gift. There will also be hand-made, fair trade crafts from Amani Africa and K'at Marketplace.
Volunteers are needed for this event. It takes many volunteers to run the market. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution and enjoy the camaraderie of the market. Click here to sign up to volunteer. Please contact Denise Kirwan for more information.
