Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to participate in the life of our congregation and in service to the larger community. Here are a few ongoing needs. If you would like to volunteer a skill or would like to suggest something new, please contact the Board Vice President and Leadership Council convener. He or she can direct you to the right group to hear your idea.
Ushers
Ushers are responsible for handing out the Orders of Service at our Sunday services, welcoming visitors, assisting people to their seats, and helping receive the offerings from our congregation. Contact Elaine Schwartz if you’re interested in being an usher for a Sunday or two. No long-term commitment is required.
Greeters
Greeters are the first point of contact for our new visitors. They provide a friendly, welcoming introduction to UUCR and can answer questions about the Unitarian Universalist faith in general or UUCR specifically. Serving as a greeter is a great way to meet new people and welcome them to UUCR. Contact Sterling Pilette if you’re interested in serving as a greeter.
Sunday Hospitality
While our Hospitality committee makes sure we have plenty of coffee and tea for the social hour after our Sunday services, we rely on volunteers to bring pastries or other snacks to accompany these drinks. If you are interested in bringing a light snack to share on a Sunday, please contact Shauna McAuliffe.
Flowers
The beautiful flowers that adorn our sanctuary for Sunday services are only there if volunteers like you agree to bring in an arrangement. What a difference it makes to our worship space! If you’re able to bring flowers to a service or two, please contact Cecile Batchelor.
