Help Hungry Kids in Our Community

Helping Hungry Kids of Northern Virginia (HHK) provides weekend food packages and in-school snack bars to elementary school children in Northern Virginia who often do not have enough to eat. Volunteers are needed to support the HHK program.

HHK distributes packs to over 425 children weekly at 12 area elementary schools. In addition, they provide over 1,200 snacks weekly for in-school distribution to children who are often too hungry to focus on learning. Volunteers can help in a variety of ways, including: collecting food at local Giant stores, sorting and counting food items and bagging backpack food sacks. Additionally, UUCR collects non-perishable food donations for HHK; you may drop food donations in the basket in the West Foyer.

HHK was co-founded by UUCR Member Connie Laurent-Roy in 2009. This program truly makes a difference in the lives of children in our community. Your support will allow HHK to provide sustenance for children that they may not otherwise receive. To learn more about HHK, visit their website
