Organizers across the US are riding the momentum of the Women's March on Washington to mobilize in solidarity with scientists, immigrants, LGBT people and more.
There are a number of upcoming events focused on different social justice issues. We will continue to update this list as we learn of more events.
April 22: March for Science
The current administration has announced cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency. This march is to demonstrate the widespread support for the scientific method and the use of evidence for policy making. Scientists will be speaking and teach in tents will be held in D.C. The UUCR Social Justice Committee has endorsed this march. We have rented a bus and will travel as a group to lend our voices to this important effort. Please visit our website for more information.
April 29: People's Climate March
The goal of this March is to encourage the president be bold on climate. The sponsor says, We're fighting for climate rooted in racial and economic justice. So far, over 13,000 people indicated their attendance or interest.
May 6: Immigrants March
The march organizer has said that the march will build collective sustainable infrastructure [and] highlight the attacks about immigration. Facebook page has 163,000 interested and 25,000 attending
June 11: National Pride March
First created on Facebook following the Women's March, this event will be held on Pride Weekend. 130,000 people expressing interest of planning on attending.
