Join us in the journey of becoming a “Peaceful Presence” for our community and world!
Beloved Yoga and the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston are excited to partner together to offer this unique peace camp and yoga experience for children ages 6-12 in our community! Our summer 2018 Peace Camp theme is “Peaceful Presence” and reflects our goal of creating a summer camp environment where campers can experience, learn and practice peace as inward love, creative expression and outward service. Campers will enjoy opportunities to create meaningful connections with others and themselves through yoga, music, storytelling, theater, arts and crafts, nature walks, service projects and fun!
With highly skilled and experienced professionals, Nichole Hodges-Abbasi Music & Arts Director along with Vasanthi Srinivasan, Kids Yoga Director will lead the program. Nichole earned her B.A. in Music Education, works as the Director of Music and Religious Education at UUCR. Nichole has been an educator with 20 years of experience working with children and youth of all ages. Vasanthi has her M.S. of Ed in Curriculum & Instruction and serves as the Director of Children’s Yoga at Beloved Yoga. Together, they have created a pilot Peace Camp that offers the opportunity to introduce kids, ages 6-12, to UUCR’s & Beloved’s spiritual community.
In camp, children will be encouraged to ask questions, explore, discover, and learn what peace means to them, how to find it within and how they can share peace with their friends, families, environment, community, and our world.
