Caring for Each Other

UUCR maintains a strong commitment to pastoral care. We believe that each person in the congregation is worthy of support in a time of need, and we strive to provide that to every extent possible.

Members of the UUCR Caring Circle help other members and friends of the congregation care for themselves and others. We provide help during family emergencies and at other times by supporting the minister/s in providing pastoral care (e.g., hospital visits) and providing transportation for doctor visits or other needs. We also coordinate memorial services and plaques for deceased members and friends, and we are in the process of creating a UUCR Memorial Book. For reference, click here for a brief memorial service checklist or here for a detailed list of memorial service planning activities.

The Caring Circle coordinates with external pastoral care networks and health service providers, such as hospice or assisted living, to learn about available services and obtain reference information and points of contact that may be of use to our congregation. We also provide forums on relevant pastoral care topics. The Caring Circle does not provide professional counseling or medical advice, but instead refers all such requests to professional or other service providers as required.
