All-UUCR Art Show

The 2D Annual All UUCR Art Show will be held October 4 - October 30 this year. The purpose of the event is to support and recognize the creative ability of all members and friends not just those who consider them “artists."  Children are encouraged to participate in this art show.
Members and friends are encouraged to consider any original artwork that they have made and that they would like to exhibit.  Each member or friend may submit 1-2 pieces of art; the show will be curated by members of the Art & Aesthetics Committee.
Submitted art must be:

  • Two-dimensional (e.g., paintings, photographs, fiber works)
  • Ready to hang on our hanging system (i.e., must have a hanging wire securely fastened to the back of the work)
  • Appropriate subject matter for the walls of our sanctuary

If interested, please contact committee chair Mary Ellen Mogee, for more information.

Art, Nature and Abstraction, featuring art by Susan Forth

Art, Nature and Abstraction: June 24 - July 24, 2016

Title: Art, Nature and Abstraction
Artist: Susan Forth
Dates: June 24 - July 24, 2016

The current art show in the Sanctuary, Art, Nature and Abstraction, features art by Susan Forth.

Susan works with a variety of art mediums: paint, graphite pencil, ink and collage. As an art student at SUNY Potsdam, Susan was encouraged to experiment with abstract concepts. She embraced this and has also applied it to her photography.

Susan is inspired by nature. Most of her work in this show has a connection to water. Susan often hikes (with her camera) along rivers, lakes and streams and enjoys capturing those mesmerizing "waterscapes".

Susan's show runs through July 24th.

Arts in the Sanctuary: Shadows of Another World

The mixed media and acrylic artworks in the sanctuary this month are by Cape Breton, Canadian artist Celeste Friesen. Many of these works are created with free flowing paint and mediums resulting in unexpected colors, patterns, and textures. These paintings vary from subtle and delicate, to bold, layered intensity.

Meet the Artist: Sunday Apr 3, 11:30-2:00pm

More of Celeste’s work may be seen on her website or on the Fine Art America website.
