What to expect on your first visit
UUCR is a "mid-sized" Unitarian church, numbering approximately 200 members. This means that we are big enough to support a number of exciting programs while, at the same time, being small enough to still be a community where everyone can get to know one another. Many of my closest friends belong to UUCR. It is a place where intelligent and friendly people can get to know each other. Don't be surprised to hear laughter at times during the service. We generally enjoy one another and laughter is important part of who we are. So be sure and bring your sense of humor!
We are a socially and politically active community. We think of ourselves as an "outward" looking congregation, where many of our members are involved in community projects. As a congregation, we unanimously supported a Fairfax County resolution to preserve Civil Liberties. We are also a "Welcoming" Congregation that believes that Civil Marriages are a Civil Right.
Our congregation cares about the environment. The church is located on 6 acres of land, much of which is covered by trees. There is a nature trail on the property that has been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as an official Backyard Wildlife Habitat. For more information on this program visit

Our religious education (RE) program is also very special. Age appropriate RE classes are held at both the 9 AM and 11 AM services (mid-September through late-May). Classes focus on the seven UU principles:
The inherent worth and dignity of every human being
Justice. equity, and compassion in human relations
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
The right of conscience and the use of democratic process within our congregations and in society at large
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
For more information on our fabulous RE program please visit the RE section of this web site or contact our RE Director, Alison Wilbur Eskildsen at 703-426-5578.
We truly hope that you will come visit us in the future. UUCR is a wonderful place and we would love you and your loved ones to share the experience!
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
